14 days...
Here's the thing....am I pondering such things BECAUSE I turn 40 in 14 days...or am I pondering such things in spite of turning 40 in 14 days...and I get the absolute indulgence of it all...
So with that, (one kid at the dance studio, one doing homework soon to be at the dance studio, and one spouse still on the road - and MAN has this time felt like a long damn haul...)...here is my message to the Universe. I know, I know...you ask: what are you doing?!? You are asking to be tossed into the very "situation" you are posing. Sort of the self-fulfilling prophecy kind of deal. You are crazy to be so bold - mocking and taunting fate like that...
But I have a warning...I am watching you, Universe. I am on to your shenanigans that you toss this way and that, seemingly indiscriminantly, to those unsuspecting folks who think they are immune, or maybe not immune but not paying attention, to the pitfalls of life.
I am NOT one of those people. I am paying attention...and that is why I am sending this message out to you. I do not want any terrible surprises to befall me or my family, well, ummmm...for awhile (read many many years)...I adore my husband and I would like him around for quite a bit longer. My daughters are wonderful, bright, funny, and beautiful girls. They have a lifetime of adventure ahead of them...therefore, Universe, leave them alone. I, too, have things to do...and I get that I have been questioning my "life" lately but to be honest, do you blame me? As a side note, maybe all I will ever do is raise my girls. Maybe I will not ever be the education professional I long to be. Maybe I am not destined for anything greater than being ordinary. And I am getting to the point where this ordinariness is okay. However, Universe, as I charge into the next decade, please allow me to figure these things out for myself and my family. If I am to be ordinary, and not extraordinary, then leave me be - no life-altering surprises to come my way...please. It's not a mortality thing...it's a "don't f(#*)!& with me" thing. Let me do my job, being a wife and mom...and maybe something more down the road.
Okay? Do we have a deal? I try not take advantage of the gifts I have been given...I am paying attention. I don't need a wakeup call. I promise.
Warmest regards....
