Motherhood

I love L O V E being a mom. Hands down, it is the best job a woman could have.  However, if you, as a mom do not have those moments where you would SOOOO rather be A N Y W H E R E else than in that moment with one of your children when you want to strangle them....then you aren't really a mom.

I had a day like that with my stunning read-headed child this weekend. Now, I think my daughters are the BOMB! BUT...I was about to throw this one out the window the other day. It feels a lot like when she was starting middle school - easily distracted, extremely disorganized (what other "dis" prefix words can I find?!?), and so naive. Sometimes I just want to put her in a bubble, to reference a Seinfeld episode, circa 1990's. There is NO way this child can be on her own, ummmm....for at least another 10 years! She will starve or forget to turn on the heat or drive into a cornfield...something.

As I am facing my own next big stage in life, I am profoundly awed and frightened at the thought of grown children. It's so much easier when they are little - I kid you not. (pun intended) You are their world, their everything. The choices made for them are your's, not their's (and what to wear doesn't count). As their decisions become life-concerning and life-determining, the helplessness begins to set in. I really just want to bring her home and say - F*(@ it. Just be at home, where I can keep you safe. For the rest of your life. I love you that much.

Actually, I love you so much, I'm willing to let you make these mistakes. But WHEN you need me, I am here.

On a different and yummy-smelling note...I have a tip for baking. If you have a boxed cake mix, or even from scratch, add a little less oil and a dollop or two of plain Greek yogurt. It nakes the cake more moist and adds a little protein to the dessert. I just made a chocolate/yogurt cake out of an almost expired white cake mix. My house smells delish!
