Just found at Target the Goody Spin Pin for quick and easy up-dos for untamed, uncut and uncolored hair (my words, not Goody's). O M G!! BEST hair thingy yet!!!! Plus it's just darn good fun.
Must go complete my Geo and Met quizzes for the week. Then off to garden....BTW, in case anyone is tracking my academic progress, I am on a quarter break from Capella....which is why I have a bit more time on my hands today (this week). Alas, I need to get out to my gardens as a Noah-inspired flood is heading this way. AHOY! Have a fab day, friends and fam.
or how to balance being a mom to teenage girls, a wife of 17 years +, and my own professional and personal goals...if someone knows the secret, let me know...

3 things...
okay. Three things:
1. I cannot be serious in this blog. I think I that's what I originally set out to do (be serious with serious introspective moments)...which as we all know, is damn near impossible for me. I am just not that serious a person (unless I am mad at my darling hard-working husband - I know, I know, how could I POSSIBLY ever be mad at him?!?!? whatever) Anyway, although I have serious moments, I would so rather be laughing - it's just better that way - because most of life is freakin' hilarious.
2. I am exhausted. I have no idea why...or rather I am either incubating a virus - children are back at school - OR I am pregnant - WHICH as I understand a bit about science AND I was witness to the alterations to Mark's body, is not possible. However, I have been feeling a little nauseous, and I ate a whole can of tuna today. Wouldn't that just be a kick in the 40-yr old pants!!!! All of my 30-40 something mom friends just all cringed with a sympathetic "ohhhhh"...anyway, I'm betting on the virus. But I am ridiculously tired.
3. I did it. I bought into the hype. I was juuuuuuuust curious enough to see of the damn show could grab my attention (because I think I am smarter than those Hollywood types)...it worked. I watched that new show The Event. Like, are you kidding me??!? I HATE getting sucked into tv shows like that (except HW of NJ - they rock!). Anyone else succumb to the EVENT?!?! I feel so stupid. I will watch next week. What was that thing in the sky that grabbed the jet out of mid-air that was flying STRAIGHT for the U.S. president?!?! And what the hell happened 13 months ago. dammit.

A clarification...
Perhaps what I was getting at the other day when I was browsing through the Susanka book, is that am I doing enough to honor myself as a woman, a mother, etc...AND still be available to my family? The balancing act is precarious, at best. I don't care of you are single, married, a mother, an aunt, whatever...do we truly (maybe it's just me) get the most out of each day without ending up with a deficit?
I know it's a luxury to be able to think about these things...don't get me wrong - I am not taking my unexpected joblessness for granted. I have spent the last 15 years in a whirlwind of working full time, being a mom, a wife, a friend, a daughter...and definitely not at 100% at any or all of these roles at any given time. I am not proud of the plethora of moments where I dropped the ball. Is there any other way though? Did I not learn as I made mistakes? However, since I have some different expectations these days, am I obligated to reflect upon how I want to proceed for the next 40 years?
OR...maybe I really don't have anything to bitch about (except the lack of metabolism) and I should just enjoy all of the many gifts in life that I do have. Maybe that's the real authentic approach. Shut up and enjoy the ride while we're on.
