One week.

Whoa. One week to go. I know that a milestrone like turning 40 isn't supposed to inspire any major life changes or epiphanies any more (40 is the new 30?!?!?). However, I am going to politely disagree. I have, and suspect most of us have, experienced some extremely significant events in the first 40 years of life. I have had many typical experiences of life - some bad, some good, and many extraordinary.

But as I begin the final countdown, I feel I need to wrap up some loose ends, so to speak. I am feeling postive about my most recent decisions and choices, and I am so grateful for where I am personally and professionally - I am learning to really take care of myself for the long term (and even 10 pounds lighter, I feel so much better!), and even though I knew that a healthy me meant a healthy mom and wife, etc...I haven't really ever truly lived that - until now. And professionally-speaking, I am so darn excited about my near future possibilities. I am very proud of myself for making the decision to tackle graduate school - again.

So, I have to deal with a few loose ends, a few nagging riff raff thoughts and feelings...and I think I am prepared to deal with these issues and let them go into the netherworld of life. It would be best for me (and hence, best for my family) if I no longer held onto some negativity that, frankly, I don't have a lot of control over. Ah yes, the Serenity Prayer comes to mind. That is my goal for this last week in my 30's. Shed the last bit of negativity that I've had hanging on my shoulders for too long.

And for those of you that have had your share of the low points in life recently, I leave you with this very funny cartoon. Shalom.
