I am not ignorant of my, or Mark's mortality. I pride myself with being fairly prepared for life in general. However, last week's medical emergency really caught me off guard - I mean really.
I was deep into a long stretch of studying (btw, must be resumed with extreme vigor today), and less than an hour after Mark had stopped by the house for a few things, I received one of those DREADED calls...you know, the "on the way to the ER" calls. Good grief.
The only thing I can say is that I handled it better being that it was Mark...and not one of the girls. Although I am a logical person about our own mortality - I haven't accepted that of my daughters.
All in all, my wonderful husband (he's still wonderful because I am still coming off being scared) is going to be just fine and he is so SO lucky he didn't have to have surgery or worse. He is in pain, while his jaw and neck heal. He realizes the need to be careful, slow down and stay safe - all rules he knows and practices (most) all of the time.
Meanwhile, for now, life goes on relatively uninterrupted.
My V A S T amount of homework awaits...I left the house Thursday in the middle of my rock lab - the metamorphic rocks remain to be identified.
Stay safe out there!
